This summer, we'll be taking ALAGADOS on a US screening tour!
Joining us on the tour is Ubiratan Assis, an accomplished percussionist and native of Alagados who collaborated in creating the original score for the film. Events include film screenings, Q&A's with the director Sylvia Johnson and music director Ubiratan Assis, a traveling photo exhibit of the kids' photography work, music performances, and Afro-Brazilian music workshops. The tour is an exceptional opportunity for cultural exchange and a way to raise money to support education for the vibrant young people of Alagados.

Alagados: Sim, Não Mau Conduto nominated for a David L Wolper Student Documentary Award by the International Documentary Association in LA!

Several successful screenings in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley have generated enough interest to get the Alagados College Scholarship Fund off of the ground.

We now have fiscal sponsorship through the Creative Visions Foundation which is very exciting, and tax-deductible donations can be made through their website. (see sidebar for more info)

On February 9, 2007, just before Carnival, we held a big screening of the film for the community. We projected the film on a wall in the green space at Bagunçaco and close to 100 people showed up. It was a huge success and a fantastic experience to see them watching the film and hear their reactions.
